Will Microsoft BING replace Google Search??

Now another search engine comes to compete with others. This time its from the software giants - Microsoft. Its named as BING. You can view it at www.bing.com. As you can see its damn fast comparing to Google search! 88|, you wont believe it until you try yourself!:yes:

Actually Microsoft first tried its fortune in search engine market by introducing live.com Even though it made some attractions it was not upto people's expectations. Then they started searching for things people need today from a search engine. So they came to a new term - search decision engines. BING actually makes decisions by reading the user's minds. |-| Well it works some how :. So here we are now we have to accept Microsoft's awesome work.

Anyway its gonna make it tough for Google and Yahoo. Their dominance in the search engine field will drop a considerable percentage. Well what ever happens Google will lead the market with its simplicity in their stuff, am not saying this because of the fact that am a big fan of Google ;D

BSNL WLL Internet with OpenDNS !!??

Well I think BSNL needs to learn alot in the ISP field. :crazy: You know what they used OpenDNS - A internet based DNS server, to block different catogarised sites. They included proxy, hacking too.. even a slight use any matter related to it will get yourself blocked from it!. Its good to use them to block Adult sites, but they block every server where any of the restricted items are used. Consider if I have a free hosting server, in that server all type of people will be there. Some may use proxy scripts or even their on inventinos on hacking, and its more than enough for OpenDNS to block that server including all the good sites comes under their hosting!! XX( And my free site hosted @ x10hosting - A really good free hosting provider if you ask me, got blocked too!! I didnt used anything they listed as "BAD".

And I tried a bit of my favorite web spots.. hurayy they all are blocked too!! :no: I waited for them to change DNS system as I thought they might be testing it, but days passed nothing happened. I got angry on the Administrator of the ISP and mailed him the following :

Dear administrator,
Am happy that you took actions to block unwanted sites in this network. But you were wrong in this. Because almost every of my freedom to surf the net is now blocked. I dont think people will like this policy. I have a website hosted at a well known free web hosting server. But it is included in the blocked list as someone who have an account there used proxy / anonymizer, now I can't access my personal web page!!?? This is not right thing to do to a public network, please leave this DNS system to your private network if possible. There are lots of way to block unwanted sites(they are freewares too), the users of this network can use them if they want. May be you can conduct an awarness programme to let users know of it, but please leave this network open. I hope you get the seriousness of what I said. Please.. please atleast change the settings in the OpenDNS to allow more site catogories. Thanking you for your "wonderfull help", JOSE.

I dont know whether they changed their stratagies because of my letter, from the next day all the DNS system was back to normal!! ;D

At last I updated my personal website with rich environment. Checkout it here : www.josephilipraja.co.cc. The new features of Adobe® Flex® Builder 2 are used to create this website.

Its so long that I thought to update my website which was in an older style. My dream was to develop a site with rich environment. The visitors should like it. But I was so lazy to work on it. But when I was testing Adobe's awesome - Flex's features, I was forced to create one.

I plan one more change in the website. Now only visitors with 'Adobe Flash Player 9+' could view my website. I'll soon give a choice at start up for selecting a simple HTML page or rich Flash page. I hope that'll do. And I plan to integrate my blog, forum, etc into it.

Lively.com is a cool new approach in social networking. Its really amazing!… ohh… wondering what am I talking about?? heres the details..

Lively.com is a new feature by Google. It allows us to create a 3D character with which we can interact with other people (characters) virtually. Let me clear it.. If I have an account in Lively.com (I have - ID: josephilipraja), I can create “rooms". These rooms are places where I can invite people to interact with. Suppose you have an account and a character setup, then I can invite you to my room to visit me. There we can talk seeing each other. My room may contain furnitures, electronic equipments (I have a TV in ma room!!) even lamps, carpet or wall-pictures!! You can use these things.. I mean in the case of a sofa you can sit in it!.

My Internet Connection Loves DAP 8.7

The all new version of DAP (Download Accelarator Plus) 8.7 released… Well it made me to post this! Ya it is really faster than the version 8.6. I used to get the download speed of 6KBps Average (Rarely 15+). Now in DAP 8.7 it averages about 18 KBps!!! today I got 30 KBps!!!!!!!

I always wondered about DAPs performance.. how they achieve this speed out of now where?… I know they download the file as different pieces parellelly.. but how?… how can they get this much speed when the ISPs limit it?? Anyway its worth a check for internet users like me who uses good old dial-up connections.

Try it and feel the speed boost… Enjoy downloading… ;)

By the way I use BSNL’s WLL CDMA 2000 Unlimitted Internet Connection.. I get about 144kbps. It costs 250pm. And unlimitted download. The only thing am not satisfied at it is that they have static IP.. one IP common to many users of this type of connection. So I get rejections from some sites as some dude with my IP is already got banned from there :(

Anyway am happy with it just now… a switch to broad-band-unlimitted-plan is in mind.. may be in future :P

But if I get this much download speed I think I could wait some more for upgrade..

Speed Up Firefox by 100-200%.. Really Works!!

So here is a simple trick to speed up firefox.. :idea: Am explaining it step by step :

  • Open Firefox.
  • Type “about:config” in the address bar & press enter.
  • Firefox will show some security thing.. that changing the settings will affect the browser. Just agree it (at your own risk).. nothing to worry if you are not messing around in it.
  • Now change the following key’s values..
  1. network.http.pipelining = true
  2. network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 8
  3. network.http.proxy.pipelining = true
  • Now you have to create a new key.. right click anywhere select New -> Integer give the name as “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” then enter value as “0“
  • Make sure the value for ‘network.http.keep-alive” is true it is already set to true by default if by any chance it is false set it to true.. bcoz during pipeling some connections may loss, this keeps them alive.

Thats it!.. Just restart the firefox.. And feel the change… B)

If you encounter any problem.. just comment it here.. I’ll try to sort it out.. In my case It really worked… and I have much faster firefox now.. well some sites do show a bit slower may be their server don’t support pipelining.. So try it and please leave your comments because if its not good trick I should delete this post.. :)
