How to download Official Windows Updates?

Ever thought of downloading Windows Updates from their site without using ‘Automatic Updates’? If you are a ‘techie’ you must have thought of it at least once. Here is a simple way to do this :

  1. Go to the Windows Update Web Site. Make sure you open it in Internet Explorer, for some reason this site wont open in any other browsers!
  2. In the left panel, under Other Options, select “Personalize Windows Update”.
  3. Under “Set Options for Windows Update”, select the checkbox for “Display the Link to Windows Update Catalog under ‘See Also’”, then click “Save Settings”. More >

Create shortcut key for applications

If you use a programme more often that you want to set a shortcut key for that application simply follow this:

  1. Create a shortcut if you are trying with an application directly (Right click and select ‘Create Shortcut’ the .exe file)
  2. Right click the shortcut you want to assign shorcut key to and select ‘Properties’
  3. In the ‘Shortcut’ tab click on the text box near to the field ‘Shortcut Key’
  4. Now just press the key combination you want to use as shortcut key. eg : CTRL+ALT+P or CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+P etc..
  5. Thats it! Just press that key combination anytime to open the application!
